In a grand castle in 18th-century France, a vain and selfish prince is transformed into a monstrous Beast by an enchantress he scorns. The spell also affects his servants, turning them into enchanted household objects. The curse can only be broken if the Beast learns to love and earns love in return before the last petal of a magical rose falls. As time passes, hope dwindles within the enchanted castle.
Meanwhile, in a nearby village, Belle, a bright and independent young woman, dreams of adventure beyond her provincial life. When her father, Maurice, becomes lost in the forest and seeks shelter in the Beast’s castle, he is imprisoned. Belle bravely offers herself in exchange for her father’s freedom. Despite initial fears, she befriends the enchanted staff and gradually sees beyond the Beast’s frightening exterior, discovering the kind heart within.
Directed by Bill Condon, this live-action adaptation of Disney’s classic animated film stars Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast.
